About Krita

Krita is a free and open-source painting and 2D animation application licensed under the GNU GPL. It features a customizable user interface with moveable dockers, over 100 preloaded brushes, and multiple brush engines. The software provides brush stabilizers, vector tools supporting SVG, wrap-around mode for seamless textures, and layer management. Additionally, Krita includes a dedicated 2D animation workspace with timeline controls and onion skinning, drawing assistants for perspective, full color management with LCMS and OpenColor IO, PSD support, and Python scripting for extensions.

What you can do

  • 2D frame-by-frame animation with multi-layer timeline controls, onion skinning, audio import, and video export.

  • Vector graphic and text editing with built-in templates and SVG format support.

  • Perspective and shape drawing aids including vanishing point and curvilinear fisheye assistants.

  • Full color management pipeline supporting ICC profiles via LCMS and OpenColor IO for EXR.
